There are several spiritual effects of Amavasya on human and human behavior as an individual tends to act restlessly and become ill-tempered and irritable which depicts the signs of lunacy. The word lunacy even has been originated from the word moon or luna.
Amavasya is a no moon day and is considered equally strong like Purnima in Hindu beliefs. People usually keep a fast on Amavasya.
This fast holds much importance as it is a belief that, if a person fasts on Amavasya then all their wishes come true.
People used to take a dip in the holy rivers after completing their fast and then worship the almighty Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
